In Toronto and surrounding areas, on-site group classes are held in fully accessible facilities. We also travel off-site to rehab facilities, community centres, long-term care facilities, and physiotherapy clinics to provide classes.

WHEEL DANCE is a community of passionate people, united by their love for dance. WHEEL DANCE offers subsidized social Ballroom and Latin Dance classes to individuals with ambulatory disabilities and their able-bodied partners. Non-wheelchair using friends, family, and community members are encouraged to participate. For wheelchair dancers who attend alone, onsite volunteers fill in as standing partners. All ages are welcome. Performance and competition opportunities are provided to those interested. We also organize wheelchair dance socials, outings, and fundraisers.

If you can move your manual or power wheelchair in a controlled way, then you can dance! The classes, each an hour in length, cover the basic elements of partner dancing, with an emphasis on basic patterns, turns and timing, feeling comfortable moving across the dance floor, and having fun.

Partner dancing increases coordination, strength, endurance, posture, range of motion, and confidence. As a social activity, wheelchair partner dancing provides an opportunity to meet new friends and promote understanding and communication between people with and without disabilities.
